Northern Kerala Immersion (7 Days / 6 Nights)

This itinerary is an “off-the-beaten-path” experience. Instead of the tea estates and backwaters, you will explore the unique culture of the Malabar coast, including the fiery Theyyam rituals (seasonal), pristine drive-in beaches (Muzhappilangad), and the misty, spice-covered hills of Wayanad, known for its history (Edakkal Caves) and stunning nature.

Theyyam is a spectacular and ancient Hindu ritual dance performed in temples (“Kavus”) across North Kerala. It is highly seasonal, primarily occurring from November to May. If your trip falls within this period, we will make every effort to include this mesmerizing experience, though performance times and locations can be unpredictable.

A moderate level of fitness is recommended. The visit to the Edakkal Caves in Wayanad involves a steep uphill trek (approx. 45 minutes) followed by a series of steps to reach the caves. Most other activities, like visiting forts, beaches, and dams, involve gentle walking.

This itinerary is considered very relaxed. By focusing on only two main locations (Kannur and Wayanad) and giving you three nights in each, you get to explore each destination in-depth without feeling rushed. It minimizes travel days and maximizes immersion.

The drives are manageable.

• Calicut (CCJ) to Kannur: Approximately 3 hours.
• Kannur to Wayanad: Approximately 3-4 hours (a scenic drive).
• Wayanad to Calicut (CCJ): Approximately 3 hours.

You will need to pack for two different climates. For coastal Kannur, pack light, breathable summer clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, and a hat. For the highlands of Wayanad, bring layers, a light sweater, or a jacket, as the mornings and evenings can be quite cool and misty.

Yes! Muzhappilangad is Asia’s longest drive-in beach, and the tour is designed to give you that unique experience. You can drive (or be driven in your tour vehicle) along the 4km stretch of firm, packed sand right by the sea.

North Kerala, or the Malabar region, is famous for its distinct and delicious cuisine. It’s known for its rich, aromatic biryanis (Malabar Biryani), seafood delicacies, and unique layered-pastry dishes. It’s a major highlight for food lovers!
